“Modern Nomad”
An apparel collection based on the Adidas 4D FutureCraft shoe. Taking inspiration from design aspects and elements of the shoe’s silhouette and construction.
“Todd Snyder Fall 19”
To apply to the Todd Snyder scholarship application, the prompt was to design a collection for Fall 19 based around a inspiration concept. My application included a six piece collection, 2 fully sewn lined suit vests, and a photoshoot of the vests.
Was awarded the internship with Todd Snyder and this application won the Iowa State AMD Ruth Glock Memorial Scholarship.
“The Next Chapter”
A men’s sportswear line based around the Nike SW 97/1 shoe. Taking inspiration from the story behind the design of Sean’s Nike project.
”Swiss Situations”
With inspiration from the Swiss mountains, and a camouflage based on the colors of the flag of Switzerland, a tailored outwear look and a base layer cool gear look make up this board.
“Halftime”
Based on Justin Timberlake’s outfit for the Halftime show at Super Bowl 52. Going off of Stella McCartney’s western button down shirt, matched with western inspired print joggers and unreleased at the time Jordan “Tinkers”, I wanted to create a repeat and engineered print based on earth elements. One comes from a photo of the layered Wyoming landscape, and the other one from roughly cracked obsidian.
”Portobello Pastels”
From Portobello Road in London, with this board I wanted to capture the color blocked nature of the homes that make up the area.
“The Alienist”
For this project, we had to take inspiration from a historical time period. “The Alienist” was airing on TNT at the time, and I took influence from the incredible costume design on set.
“Bridging Business”
Bridging business brings classic jacket and trouser silhouettes crossing over into a more trendy large vertical stripe pattern.
“White Sand”
Based in resort wear, this female board brings influence from the clean white sand and crisp bright blue ocean water that are found at many vacation spots. A flowy evening dress matched with a casual dinner jacket and trouser make up White Sand.
“Historical Update”
Having to take one of Alexander McQueen’s previous runway collections and reimagine it, I took the Fall 2015 Menswear collection that took inspiration from World War I in the United Kingdom. I updated this inspiration to make it 21st century related and used words such as equality to display current issues in the world.
“Lil’ Boats”
A board based on children’s wear, I took a play on rainy days and made a mini line of rainwear. With a fun play on words while also playing around with stripes and fun colors to keep a smile on kids’ faces.
“Tropical Infusion”
A tropical resort board with one swimmer look and an A-Line dress to match after being on the beach. The green leaf print was influenced by the large tropical plants commonly found on beachfronts.
“Libra”
A women’s activewear line with looks for different weather variations in the gym and on the way to and from. The looks are named after traits of a Libra, and fabrications Heather Knit to Utility Mesh.
“Men’s Streetwear”
A tech flat men’s streetwear line based around creating variations of looks off of an original button down and jean. From a collarless shirt and longline tee, to a cut-off flannel and technical jacket for the tops, to fleece shorts, chinos, joggers and a modern cargo pants I tried to keep a clean look for the garments that would allow interchangeability within the line.
“Layers of the City”
A research board on a current “look” happening at the time in menswear, I chose the way men in cities would layer medium weight shirts with a heavier top layer. Whether that be a denim jacket, knit sweater or three button camel overcoat.
“Oceanic Vista”
Practice in creating prints and color ways lead to this handmade watercolor board. With the goal to create four very different color ways that each tied back into the theme of the ocean.
“A Possible Re-Design”
A board based on interpreting one of your favorite TV show characters costume into a daily outfit. I took the television show Kim Possible and gave both Kim’s and her evil version Shego an outfit update, making Kim’s iconic outfit a subtle update with a cargo pocket and some style lines, and turning Shego’s outfit into a futuristic female workout ensemble.
“An Overall Resurgence”
A trend board based around researching and finding a look that is coming back into popularity. Overalls for men have seen a come-back with old influence from artists such N-Sync, Tupac, and Will Smith on Fresh Prince of Bel Air, and current ones like Chance the Rapper.
“Revolutionary Return”
A board with the assignment being bring back a historical look and update it. I chose the Revolutionary War era and the overcoats, pants, and boots that military officers would wear. Changing the old strapping harness from having a use to being asymmetrical and having more of an aesthetic purpose, to changing the tall boots to Chelsea’s, and the trousers to tapered biker jeans.
