Industrial Design Projects

A few selected works from my Industrial Design major in University.

London College of Fashion Footwear Line

My study abroad at LCF gave me the opportunity to develop a footwear line from inspiration to final renders. After lots of ideation and phases of sketching, the Spring/Summer 2019 collection takes comes from guidance and great teaching at LCF and inspiration when exploring the streets of London and Paris.

Starting with three key words as a basis for research and development, my investigative collection takes inspiration from the Japanese sandals worn by the Waraji. Exploring new ways to create dynamic lacing concepts, I explored the ways that laces could be used as an aesthetic direction and not a functional one. With the expanding world of knit sneakers, laces have became insignificant in important when it comes to actual functionality, but abandoning laces all together hasn't yet been widely accepted.

Creating two soles to use throughout the line, I have utilized all knit uppers with various lacing methods, tapings and melted translucent overlays. From creating the brand “Instituted”, to in depth competitor research, discussing a persona of the market, to having a fashion icon as an influencer, my line encompasses taking Japanese heritage and bringing it to the streets of Europe and the UK.

Hair Dryer reloaded

For the Hair Dryer Reloaded project, we were challenged to find an inspiration and apply it to the complete re-design of a hair dryer. An individual project from the Solid Works class I was enrolled in, I took design inspiration from BMW, specifically the grill design of the M3 and the body features of the i8. Utilizing the strong design lines and simple construction, as well as the well known colors that BMW is known for.

SOLID WORKS Product re-creation

For the Product Re-Creation product, we were given the challenge to pick an item we use often in our own lives, and re-create the product in Solid Works. After measuring the dimensions of the headphones using a caliper and doing research to find the internals, I was able to design the Beats Studio Wireless headphones in Solid Works, and then match the matte black color way and materialization in Key shot.

natural Disaster relief solution project

The Natural Disaster Relief Solution Project was the final project of my Junior year Industrial Design. With the challenge to design an improvement for disaster relief response time, we researched the Red Cross extensively, as well as met with the local Fire Department to learn about how they think response time could be improved. When a natural disaster occurs, local Ambulances are one of the vehicles that is utilized the most in the disaster area. Within disaster areas, there is quite often rubble and debris from natural and man made elements, and very often this debris can puncture the tires of response vehicles. Having to change a tire on a emergency response vehicle slows the response time dramatically. Our goal was to eliminate that from happening.

Based in exercise, Jax Jox specializes in workout equipment for person that chooses to workout at home on the days they can’t make it to the gym. Looking to expand their product categories, I was asked to put a design proposal for a soft goods equipment bag that could work for a wide range of personas.
